Weeks of Welcome (WOW) happen at the beginning of the fall and spring semester to welcome you to John Jay and highlight student resources and activities. Some past events include Welcome Bash, brunch with Student Council, resource fair with various offices and departments, involvement fair with various student clubs and organizations, and more.

Student Employment Opportunities

There are four student employment opportunities within the Office of Student Transition Programs that are both seasonal and for the academic year depending on availability. These opportunities will: 

  • Foster professional & personal development & encourage students to create leadership identities
  • Develop students into stronger leaders who educate for justice on campus and beyond

Student Transition Programs

The Office of Student Transition Programs, aligning with the divisional mission, aims to provide integrated student-centered educational activities that engages our urban commuter campus and promotes a holistic approach to student success and engaged learning.

The Office of Student Transition Programs utilizing a holistic approach to student success and engaged learning by providing integrated student-centered educational experiences to engage and inspire purposeful transitions for students and their families equipping them with resources, guidance and peer connections.

Student transitions such as the first year of college, transfer experience, degree completion, and new graduate student experiences are critical junctures in the educational pipeline and provide unique opportunities for postsecondary student learning and development.  These experiences include, but are not limited to: New Student Orientation, Weeks of Welcome, Convocation, Parent & Family programs, Commencement-related events, Commencement, and the Peer Ambassador Leadership Program.
