Jim Cohen, Associate Professor of Public Management, received a AB from Yale University and PhD from the University of Chicago. He serves on the Boards of two City University Institutes--Transportation Systems and Urban Systems—and is Director of the Transportation Management Program at John Jay College. Professor Cohen’s research focuses on the financial history of transportation in the U.S. and France from the early 19th century to the present. His articles have been published in Enterprise and Society, Social Science HistoryUrban Affairs Quarterly. Additional articles have been translated into French and appear in Financer les Entreprises face aux Mutations Économiques du XX Siécle (Paris, CHEFF, 2009) and in Trames: Révue de l’Amenagement (1995).  Professor Cohen serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Urban Technology. He is currently working on a comparative study of the financial aspects of nationalization of railways in the U.S. and France before World War II.
