Dr. Charissa Che is a professor in the English department with expertise in translingual and cultural rhetorics, second language writing, and intercultural awareness. She received her PhD in Writing and Rhetoric from the University of Utah. Additionally, she earned her Master's and Bachelor's degrees in English from the College of Staten Island (CUNY) and Pace University, respectively. Her publications have focused on culturally-inclusive writing pedagogies, equitable writing placement methods, and multilingual student identities.
Che is the recipient of the CCCC (College Composition and Communication) Chair's Memorial Scholarship and Scholars for the Dream awards. She is a two-time recipient of the PSC CUNY Research Award, as well as the CUNY Campus Climate Grant, sponsored by the CUNY Diversity and Inclusion Program. She currently serves as the Associate Chair of TYCA (Two-Year College Association) National and the Book Review Editor of TETYC (Teaching English in the Two-Year College). She was previously the Program Chair of the 2022 TYCA National Conference and the TETYC Editorial Fellow.
