Bio

My childhood spans the beaches of the Caribbean Sea and the suburb of Queens, as a result, I have a varied and assorted composition of tastes and interests. My research project engages an excavation of what it means to die with dignity and the role vigil plays in the bereavement process. I am a hospice volunteer and herein lies the marriage of my research interest. I am pedagogically trained as a philosopher which makes my anthropological research aberrant—one may coin it as fieldwork in philosophy. I consider myself a Zen-Existentialist because I have been studying Zen and Tibetan Buddhism for over fifteen years and I have also been studying Existentialism and Continental Philosophy for the same duration of time.

When I am not engaging any of the aforementioned interests, I enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends over a good meal, a tasty beverage, and filled with laughter in an aesthetically pleasing environment. When not with loved ones, I cherish my solitude, greatly—especially living in an overpopulated cosmo-polis like New York City. Here are a few random facts about me, my favourite novel is Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird. My favourite movie is Vanilla Sky and my favourite musician is Joshua Radin. If I can invite six people to dinner, dead or alive, I’d invite Maya Angelou, James Baldwin, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Friedrich Nietzsche, Emperor Hadrian, and Marguerite Yourcenar. Seneca and Marcus Aurelius are my specter-homeboys and they watch over and guide me. There is nothing more gratifying to me than watching the summer Olympics, the human spirit at its best. I am a man that appreciates the simple pleasures in life, especially when it is sincere, authentic, and convivial.
