Student Highlight: Leon B. Abbas, MPA, CFE
Leon B. Abbas, MPA, CFE, is an Adjunct Lecturer with the Department of Public Management. Professor Abbas received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice and a Master of Public Administration degree with a concentration in Inspection and Oversight from John Jay College. Professor Abbas is a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) who currently works as an Associate Principal in Regulatory Compliance with the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) where he is tasked with drafting new and updating existing policies and procedures in order to ensure market integrity and protect investors. Previously, Professor Abbas served the people of the City of New York as a Senior Campaign Finance Auditor, Chief New York City Public Funds Allocation Officer, as well as a Member of the Association of Local Government Auditors where he sat on the Committee for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Committee on Education, Member of the Association of Inspectors General, Associate Member of the Association of Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialists and Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. Professor Abbas instructs a wide variety of courses and is always available to support students.
