About Us
"The purpose of studying economics is not to acquire a set of ready-made answers to economic questions, but to learn how to avoid being deceived by economists." - Joan Robinson
Economics is a social science that studies how the structure of institutions and behavior of groups and individuals generate patterns in the production, distribution, and consumption of goods and services. What gets made? Who has to make it? Who gets to consume it? Who profits? Our department is committed to looking at these questions from different perspectives and understanding economic activity within its historical, cultural, ecological and social environment. More information about our Bachelor of Science degree and new Master of Arts program can be found in the For Students section.
